BioART is the acronym for Bio Assisted Reproductive Technology.
BioART Fertility Centre was formally called the Nordica Fertility Centre. The roots of which originated from our affiliation with Nordica International in Denmark and the Herlev University Fertility Clinic in Copenhagen.
Our clinical standards are mirrored on the Danish model and this is manifested in the high success rate that the clinic persistently enjoys.
The clinic has celebrated many FIRSTS:
The FIRST fertility clinic in Africa to have a tele-medical Fertility Quality Control (fqc) system
The FIRST to use Laser Assisted Hatching in South Africa
The FIRST to introduce oocyte vitrification in South Africa
BioART is located in Saxonwold, Johannesburg. The premises is newly built and functionally yet beautifully designed. Oxford road day clinic is on the same premises and boasts state-of-the-art equipment and service.
A Lancet depot is also on premises thus ensuring that all aspects of treatment are done on site at the easiest convenience.
Our laboratory is managed by the strictest international standards and strives to ensure that it keeps abreast with all the latest technology.
We are also affiliated with the Durban University of Technology (DUT) and host embryology students for their practical training.
Our costing is highly competitive whilst still ensuring the highest quality of service standards.
The clinic also offers allied services, acupuncture and psychology. Our psychologist is highly qualified and has a PHD in psychology. Our acupuncturist has the largest series for treatment in infertility and has presented his data at International conferences.
Our doctors have over 50 years of cumulative experience in the field of infertility. We maintain collaboration with institutes world-wide and our staff have received training from leading fertility institutes world-wide, including Ciconia – Aarhus, Herlev University – Copenhagen and the Lister institute in the UK.
We are a Fertility Clinic specialising in all aspects of ART and are also keen on academia and strongly believe in the practice of evidence based medicine.
We have conducted numerous research projects and have published manuscripts and case reports in international journals. Our doctors have also been invited to present at numerous local and international conferences.
We have recently also established a research division and are the first fertility clinic in South Africa to be conducting trials using PRP (platelet-rich plasma) and autologous derived stem cells for ovarian rejuvenation and treatment of non-obstructive azoospermia.

LifeArt Fertility Clinic brings affordable fertility treatment to more couples than ever before. Because every couple deserves the chance to realise the beauty and dream of having a baby.
In 1978 the first ‘test-tube’ baby was born via in vitro fertilization (IVF). This technology is now over 40 years old with more than 6.5 million births being made possible through this breakthrough. Unfortunately, this fertility treatment is not accessible for the majority of couples who so desperately need it. This is mainly due to financial constraints. So with this innovation in the medical industry, low cost quality IVF is within reach for more couples.
A global study published by the World Health Organization in 2004 showed that 186 million women of reproductive age, in 2002, were infertile. The scope of this problem is especially severe in Sub-Saharan Africa which is largely due to reproductive tract infections.
The objective of this unit is…
To make in vitro fertilization possible for the majority of couples who so desperately need this fertility treatment but, sadly, are unable to afford it.
The team at LifeArt Fertility Clinic has partnered with several players in the medical industry to bring down the cost of IVF. By using economies of scale and with the sharing of resources we are therefore able to offer a complete IVF cycle with ICSI (Intracytoplasmic sperm injection) at R24,000. This is substantially lower than the industry average. We are able to assist women up to the age of 38 years.
This is the first time that Low Cost Quality IVF is being offered in a private setting in South Africa.
We believe that this advancement in fertility treatment will make having a baby a reality for many couples.

Prostate Care offers Enlarged Prostate Treatment in South Africa. The treatment is called Prostatic artery embolization. Prostatic artery embolization (PAE) is a cutting-edge procedure performed to help improve urinary symptoms caused by an enlarged prostate without the risk of sexual side effects. Prostatic artery embolization in South Africa has become a realistic alternative for men who are experiencing benign prostatic hyperplasia says Dr Lawson.
Dr Natalia Novikova is the first certified Aesthetic Gynaecologist in South Africa. I am passionate about looking after women with gynaecological problems and finding an answer to my patients’ needs. Aesthetic gynaecology is a new exciting field and I am very proud to be the first and so far the only, certified by European Society of Aesthetic Gynaecology, aesthetic gynaecologist in South Africa.
Being an advanced minimally invasive gynaecological surgeon and having a special interest in urogynaecology allows me to bring a full package of skills to women seeking assistance with female genital reconstructive surgery and non-invasive procedures, improving genital appearance as well as treating incontinence, vaginal dryness, laxity and other problems.
Fibroid Care focuses on fibroids treatment through uterine fibroids embolization (UFE) also known as uterine artery embolization (UAE). Due to the relatively new nature of uterine fibroids embolization treatment in Southern Africa (fibroid in surgery treatment – non-surgical), many gynaecologists are not familiar with this revolutionary option. The Fibroid embolization treatment is a non-surgical, minimally invasive fibroids treatment alternative for the control of symptomatic uterine fibroids, which can be the cause of heavy menstrual bleeding, pain as well as pressure on the bladder or bowel. Unlike other fibroid treatments in South Africa, the uterus is preserved, making pregnancy possible after fibroid treatment.
